Popular circular hiking trail in the Bavarian Prealps
This beautiful circular hike begins in Hammersbach and leads via the Jägersteig past the mountain station of the Kreuzeckbahn, the Kreuzeckhaus and on to the Trögelhütte (note opening times). Numerous vantage points are passed, from which a fantastic view of the surrounding mountain peaks such as the Großer Waxenstein or the Alpspitze is offered.
Although this round is certainly one of the more relaxed in the region, there are still a few climbs to be mastered, especially in the Jägersteig area. A solid basic level of fitness and sturdy shoes are therefore recommended. The first and at the same time last piece is very slippery in places.
There are a few places to stay and stop for refreshments along the route. The path can be reached by bus and train (short access from Hammersbach train station).
