Hike with alpine character in the Bavarian Karwendel in Mittenwald, Bavaria.
At the valley station in Mittenwald, the Karwendelbahn goes up to the mountain station and from there down to the Dammkarhütte. Rocky, often stony and also steep terrain characterizes the alpine character of this route. Sturdy shoes and hiking poles are definitely recommended for this excursion. Along the way there are spectacular views of the seemingly endless gray desert of craggy cliffs, boulders and stone. After a break in the managed Dammkarhütte, the landscape changes - the gray rocky landscape gives way to a wooded area. Now the descent to Mittenwald begins.
