MTB Karwendel Circuit

This legendary circumnavigation of the northern Karwendel range is widely regarded as the crown jewel of Bavarian mountain biking. The route provides a comprehensive overview of the rugged limestone peaks and unspoilt alpine meadows that make this region the largest nature park in the Eastern Alps. Long and energy-sapping climbs on firm forest paths leading to the Karwendelhaus 1,765m and the highest point at the Hochalmsattel 1,803m can be expected. This route is a regular highlight of the BIKE Transalp Challenge and offers an incomparable view of the almost vertical, 900 metre high Laliderer walls. Historically, the area has been protected since the early 20th century in order to preserve its wild character. The tour leads through a landscape that looks almost as it did a hundred years ago. The tour ends with a rapid descent towards Mittenwald, which requires a high level of physical endurance and safe braking despite the technically easy gravel paths.
