Hohenbogen Touristenweg

From the tourist information centre, cross the main road and walk along Hohenbogenstraße. Shortly after the Hohenbogen holiday hotel, turn half-right and walk straight on uphill to the edge of the forest. From here, steep and flat sections alternate until you reach a rest area with a fountain. Continue along the beautifully developed Neukirchner Weg, past various elevations of the Hohenbogen (see also the hiking brochure: Four legendary thousand metre peaks), to the Forstdiensthütte, which is open all year round (except in November) (possibility of a detour to the Burgstall, where there is a Bavarian radio and television transmitter). From the forestry service hut, follow the Nk3 markings to the left and steeply uphill. After approx. 4 km of hiking along the mountain ridge, you reach the mountain station of the Hohenbogen chairlift and the mountain lodge, probably the most beautiful in the Bavarian Forest (1,050 m). Forest (1,050 m). A refreshment stop is recommended. (Closed in November, otherwise open like the mountain railway). Visitors can enjoy a marvellous panoramic view from the mountain station. You can take the chairlift down into the valley. From the valley station, where there is also an inn, take the Nk4 or Nk11 hiking trail and return to the village of Neukirchen b.Hl.Blut. However, if you decide to continue the hike on the Nk3, you follow the downhill route for a while from the Berghaus, enter the forest again and reach the Berghaus Schönblick, which is also open to the public. Here you have another marvellous view. Continue following the Nk3 markings and, after a long descent, you come to an open area where you continue to the left, later crossing the lift road and reaching the first houses. Turn right at the transformer station and follow the path downhill to the starting point.
