Best trails near Ahornriegel

This is a relatively short outward and return route that leads to the summit of the Ahornriegel. It starts at the lift road and follows the Pürzerriegelweg to begin the ascent through the forest. At the junction with other paths, it makes a sharp turn and leads to Schönblick. From there, take the Baierweg to the summit.

This route starts in Rimbach and leads to the nearby peaks of the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. The peaks along the way include the Farrenruck, the Bärenriegel, the Eckstein, the Schwarzriegel and the Ahornreigel. There are several places to stop for refreshments along the way and many great views.

From the tourist information centre, cross the main road and walk along Hohenbogenstraße. Shortly after the Hohenbogen holiday hotel, turn half-right and walk straight on uphill to the edge of the forest. From here, steep and flat sections alternate until you reach a rest area with a fountain.
