Temporary hiking trail in the Hainich National Park This hiking trail offers entertainment for young and old. It shows the natural habitat of the wildcat and is a wonderful addition to a visit to the wildcat village of Hütscheroda. The route begins above the show enclosure in Hütscheroda, the so-called wildcat clearing, not far from the wildcat barn and follows the hiking symbol "Wildcat Tracks". There is a slight incline between the wildcat barn and the wildcat clearing at the beginning of the hike. It initially meanders through a younger forest with individual old beeches. This is followed by a very varied section with gnarled old oaks, other imposing tree shapes and a lot of dead wood. You can get a deep insight into the structure of the forest, and with a lot of luck maybe catch a glimpse of one or the other forest dweller. Climbing elements along the way invite young and old to try out their own climbing skills. After a short circular hike through the dense forest and over light open areas, after half an hour you arrive on the meadow behind the wildcat clearing, where the benches invite you to relax. A fireplace with grill and benches can be used on request for a family trip to the wildcat village. The path is designed to be barrier-free and therefore suitable for prams and active wheelchair users (with accompaniment).
