Legendary circular hiking trail in the Hainich National Park
The circular hiking trail starts at the Mallinde hiking car park near Berka vd Hainich and leads over the legendary Silberbornlinde and the Sulzrieden desert along the southern slope of the Burgberg and then back to the hiking car park. Those who hike this way can clearly see the effects of climate change in the Hainich National Park. The course of this path was relocated in April 2020, as the beech trees that were dying away on the castle hill posed a significantly increased risk. Now you are walking some distance away.
The route follows the "Owl" symbol and begins at the "Mallinde" hiking car park near Berka vd Hainich on the western edge of the national park.
Mallinde and Malstein probably mark the "Nuenhögen" court site, which was documented in the 13th century. The court was later transferred to the Propel in Mihla.
