Historic hiking trail in the Hainich National Park near the treetop path
From the "Thiemsburg" car park, past the "Old Oak", the thickest tree in the national park with a diameter of 5.45 m, you hike through a species-rich mixed deciduous forest with an alder quarry and historical boundary stones. Magnificent meanders and interesting tree shapes can be seen at the stone ditch.
In the further course you can discover lush white Märzenbecher carpets in March.
The short circular route is the ideal addition before or after a visit to the treetop path and the exhibitions in the national park center. The first stretch of the way to the Erlenbruch is shared by the Thiemsburg nature trail with the forest promenade.
The route follows the "oak leaf" symbol and begins at the "Thiemsburg" car park, where you walk past the national park center. You are in close proximity to the treetop path.
Highlights of the hike:
- Brewer's Crown Path
- National Park Center
- Thiemsburg
- Old oak (thickest tree in the Hainich National Park)
- March mug carpets
