There are parking spaces at the starting point in Silkerode. The hike leads north, first across wide fields to Bad Lauterberg and then through the foothills of the Harz mountains to the Oder dam and along the river from time to time. The ascent to the Brocken via the Goetheweg begins at the idyllic Oderteich. On the way there are some nice rest stops, but also long stretches without supplies. Sufficient provisions and an exceptionally good physical condition are necessary for this beautiful feat.
