This marvellous hike leads from the small town of Steinach to the Rennsteig high-level trail on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest. The hike starts at the Steinach (Thür.) railway station. The route leads past the ski arena with chair lifts, a high ropes course and the Griffelbrüchen quarries, where stones were once quarried for historical writing utensils. There are overnight accommodation and refreshment stops at the finish.
