Great and interesting hike in the Thuringian Forest.
This hike on often unpaved paths was exactly the route that the wives or messenger wives of glassblowers travelled between the 19th and 20th centuries to transport the fragile glass balls from Lauscha to Sonneberg. They made the arduous journey on foot and with special wooden frames - especially in autumn and winter. Thuringian glass is still world-famous today!
Start at the Museum of Glass Art. The bus stop "Lauscha Farbglashütte" is located here and Lauscha railway station is also very close by. There are restaurants in Steinach and Sonneberg.
