The highlight of this beautiful route is the famous Drachenschlucht ("dragon canyon"), around 3 km long and only 68 cm wide at the narrowest point. Here you hike on narrow paths along exciting rock formations (sturdy shoes are an advantage). The route continues through the Landgrafenschlucht and along the historic wine route to the Marienblick viewpoint. There you have a wonderful view over the Mariental, the tops of the Thuringian Forest and the Wartburg.
