Panoramic hike in the Wartburg - Hohe Sonne nature reserve The hike begins at the Wartburg P1 car park, which is subject to a charge. The route first follows the road for a short distance before climbing up to Wartburgblick. From here, the magnificent view over the Thuringian Forest can be enjoyed before the route winds its way through the nature reserve. It passes the Elfengrotte grotto before finally reaching the Drachenschlucht gorge. This is a 3 kilometre long gorge to the south of Eisenach. It is also possible to take the train to Eisenach and start from there. There are several places to stop for refreshments in the town.
