This is the official route of the Megamarsch Sylt 2022. This epic route leads almost completely around the northernmost island of Germany and was specially designed for the long-distance hiking event "Megamarsch". The route covers an impressive distance of 100 kilometers and runs on a varied mix of paved cycle paths, wooden dune footbridges, dyke paths and sections directly along the tidal fringe. A central highlight is the crossing of Listland in the north with its shifting sand dunes and the passage along the stormy west coast, where the surf of the North Sea meets the Red Cliff. The vast salt marshes of the Wadden Sea are an excellent place to observe brent geese, oystercatchers and various limicoles, while seals often rest on the beaches. The route is an extreme physical and mental challenge due to its enormous length, although the terrain remains largely flat.
