Teuflisch schöne Erlebnisse im Teufelsgrund

Easy hike. For all fitness levels. Easily accessible paths. No special skills required. Route description: Deeply incised valleys run through the sandstone of the Vordere Sächsische Schweiz. They have an almost mystical atmosphere and a cool cellar climate. It is a world of its own into which this hike plunges; in seclusion and a little detached from reality. From the Kohlberg parking lot (road between Lohmen and Dorf Wehlen) or from the nearby bus stop in Uttewalde, after a few meters along the road, you take Buschholzstraße, an unmarked dirt track that leads into the forest. The route turns left from Buschholzstraße onto an unmarked path and then follows the signs for "Rundgang Teufelskammer". The damp green rock faces of the Teufelsgrund get closer and closer to the path. Suddenly you are at the narrowest, darkest point in the middle of the Devil's Chamber. On the sides you can see fairy-like sculptures of lichens and ferns, shadows, dripping water and mosses that soak up the moisture like sponges. For the particularly adventurous, there is a small extra loop: From the Teufelsgrund, follow the signs to the right for the "Teufelsschlüchte" (Devil's Gorge) tour and then keep to the right so that you descend into the Teufelsgrund again with the "Teufelskammer" (Devil's Chamber) tour. After Teufelsgrund, the hike turns left into Wehlener Grund (red dot) and continues (green line) into Utterwalder Grund until you reach Gasthaus Waldidylle. The hike follows the path marked with the green dot until it reaches Uttewalde, where it turns left to reach the starting point of the hike via Alte Uttewalder Straße. The tour is suitable for both children and dogs.
