Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland Stage 7: Satzung - Bärenstein

This route follows stage 7 of the certified "Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland" premium trail, connecting Satzung with Bärenstein on a densely forested and panoramic section. The hike passes the "Lustiger Hans" shelter and leads steeply downhill into the Pressnitz Valley to Schmalzgrube. A special highlight awaits you here on weekends and holidays: the historic Preßnitztalbahn heritage railway chugs through the valley to Jöhstadt with its steam locomotives. The trail passes the Loreleyfelsen cliff and follows the Old Salt Road directly along the Czech border. After a relaxing break at the Brettmühle or Fichtenhäusel inns, a final climb requires some legwork before reaching the destination atop the legendary Bärenstein mountain with its observation tower. Hiker-friendly accommodations and traditional country inns are available at the destination and along the trail; wild camping is prohibited. The starting point in Satzung is accessible by bus, while Bärenstein station offers connections to the Erzgebirgsbahn train network; schedules are available through local transit networks.
