Loop
Certified premium hiking trail in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, Saarland.
This loop lives up to its name - it goes through many gorge valleys, also known as "Grät". In between, the forest opens up and offers views of open fields and orchards. The trail should not be walked in persistent rainy weather, as the water level of the streams can then rise too high. There are some steep ascents and descents along the route, which require a basic level of fitness.
The highlight of the hike is the so-called Grosse Grät. The view of the gorge is unique. It is possible to travel by bus and train and there are refreshment stops along the way.
Highlights:
- Gorges
- Large ridges
