The great Kirrberger circular hiking trail is located in the easternmost part of Saarland and has a lot to offer. Kirrberg is nationally known because the northern route of the Palatinate Way of St. James runs through Kirrberg here.
This route begins east of Homburg on the edge of dense forest to Merburg, a hilltop castle from the 11th century that is well worth a visit. It continues uphill via Zimmermannsberg and Tobisberg to Kirrberg. From Kirrberg you can enjoy the rest of the route through beautiful forest and open terrain with one or the other climb.
