The trail runs along the Ahbach stream, near which the ruins of Dreimühlen Castle from the 13th century are hidden. It passes through a varied landscape of mixed forests and open fields that are typical of the High Eifel. Along the way, benches invite you to enjoy the peace and quiet and keep an eye out for native wildlife such as deer. The waterfall itself was only created when a railroad line was built in 1912, bringing together three springs.
