Best trails near Sauerbrunnen

This route is stage 2 of the Lieserpfad, a long-distance trail in Rhineland-Palatinate. This section leads from the spa town of Daun to Manderscheid. A geological highlight is the Gemündener Maar, a volcanic crater lake surrounded by high trees. Popular loop trail in the Vulkaneifel Nature and Geopark, Rhineland-Palatinate. The Schalkenmehrener Maar, the Gemuendener Maar and the Weinfelder Maar are also called the eyes of the Eifel. The Drei Maare-Lieserpfad-Uedersdorfer Muehle loop trail leads along these three Dauner Maare. But that's not all: the Weinfeld chapel and the Dronketurm on the Maeuseberg (views!) are also on the path, some of which runs along the popular premium hiking trails "Lieserpfad" and "Eifelsteig". The motto of this route is water and rocks. This is impressively fulfilled on the entire route. The lumps of basalt in the Löhley on one side and the refreshing mineral water in the Liesertal on the other are trademarks of the region's volcanic past. The chunks in particular give an idea of the forces that must have acted on each other in the fight between fire and water. The Liesertal, on the other hand, is wildly romantic throughout.
