Sauerland-Höhenflug Etappe 11: Düdinghausen - Korbach

Panoramic section of the route in the Sauerland, North Rhine-Westphalia The eleventh and last stage of the Sauerland-Höhenflug begins at the church in Düdinghausen. A visit to the home house "Pastoren Scheune" is definitely worthwhile here - there is a small village museum with a historic woodturning room. We continue to the Borghagen quarry (with a bit of luck you can find fossils here) and through deciduous forests steeply up to the Kreuzberg. Once at the top, the effort is rewarded with a great panoramic view (if you want to avoid the strenuous ascent, you can also drive to the car park at the Resurrection Chapel). Via Nieder-Schleidern it goes to the river Ogge, whose course you follow (on the way there are fishing opportunities at the hiking car park "Raumbergteich", a children's playground and a barbecue area). On the Eisenberg there is a lookout tower, the remains of a castle and a visitor mine, where you can learn interesting facts about the history of ore and gold mining. On an old ravine you hike down to the entrance portal, where the Höhenflug ends. the black marked access path leads from there to the center of Korbach - you can stop here and discover the beautiful medieval old town with fortress, half-timbered houses and Gothic churches.
