You will start the hike in Diemelsee - Heringhausen. By bus, the small town on the Diemelsee from the station Willingen or from Korbach and Bad Arolsen easy to reach. At the tourist information (www.diemelsee.de) you can also park for free. Along the waterfront with beautiful views of small coves, sailors, surfers and bathing people, the route leads past the largest Diemelseer hotel to the outskirts Heringhausen. It follows the climb to the secret climax of Diemelsteiges: The St-Muffert cliff with its refuge almost at the highest point of the mountain (592m). A great view of the Diemelsee makes up for the effort of the climb. Passing meadows and fields, the trail leads to the Christiane pit with magnificent views of the Diemelsee nature park. A visit to the historic iron ore mine Grube Christiane (grube-christiane.diemelsee.de) with an interactive information center is a must on our hike. Via the Martenberg cliff we reach the small town of Adorf where we can visit the GeoFoyer for free in the city center. Next you leave the Diemelsteig and climb without markers in the direction of the village Rhenegge over fields and meadows. At the edge of the forest we have again a wonderful view of Adorf with its windmills. Then you meet the Panoramaweg and follow the mark over fields and meadows down to Heringhausen. The lovingly designed AdventureGolf course (www.golfpark-diemelsee.de) is located along the way. Each track is a highlight on the Diemelsteig recreated and so pleased young and old in a round of mini golf. In addition, the rustic Diemelsteighütte invites you to stop. If you want to experience even more, you can take a short detour to the free beach on hot summer days or take a round trip on the rented boat over the Diemelsee. Tip: At the youth tent "Diemelsee" (www.naturpark-diemelsee.de) you can spend the night directly at the lake. If you are staying longer in the region, the youth trail "The Willinger loop" invites you to go hiking. Show more
