Kloster Heisterbach – Bad Honnef

Most of this route leads along the Rheinsteig. The moderate to difficult stage is almost alpine with an incline of 1149 m and a gradient of 1172. Shortly after the monastery, after a gentle entry, a shrine from 1724 appears. The Rheinsteig branches off to the left and the path becomes narrower and steeper on its way through the Siebengebirge. After a short look from the beautiful terrace of the restaurant on the Drachenfels, or the Drachenburg, we continue, finally downhill, to the moonlight meadow. Via serpentines it goes to the foot of the Petersberg and via a forest path to a pedestrian bridge and thus via the L331 to Margaretenhöhe and the Ölberg. On the left at a refuge, the next ascent is already taking place. The Guillaumhütte leads to the top of the Geisberg and the renewed view of the Drachenfels compensates for the sweaty climb. Passing pointed chunks of basalt, it goes through a beautiful tree avenue towards Drachenfels. A beautiful tree avenue is just going out. Another, equally beautiful, goes to the left. The Drachenfels sign points to the left. The Rheinsteg goes straight on.
