One of the most attractive hiking trails in the Simmerath area This is a varied hike without steep gradients on well-paved paths. Follow path no. 31 exclusively. The path runs from the church through Schmiedstrasse, turning left, past the cemetery and the Simmerath mill. Behind the Kall, turn right into Untere Mühlenweg and follow the Kall to the stone bridge on the B 399, where you turn left towards Lammersdorf. After a short ascent, cross the county road and continue to the right. Leave the main road after about 70 m by turning left. This path leads into the Kall valley. Before the first quarry stone wall, follow a wide forest path to the left, which always leads you to the dam on the edge of the lake. The dam is crossed. Behind it you hike about 80 m to the refuge and, turning right, you come to the edge path on the opposite shore of the lake. Follow this well-developed side path to the sewage treatment plant. 200 m beforehand there is the possibility to turn left into a forest path. You pass an old millstone with a cross and a bench. This millstone is reminiscent of the old mill that stood here from 1826 to 1965 (Mathars mill.) From here you continue towards Rollesbroich. 220 m behind the Kallbrücke, turn right into a path, follow this for about 500m and hike right on the path that turns off to the Lönsfelsen. From there the hiking trail runs along a dirt road towards Witzerath and back to Simmerath.
