This is a segment of the Dutch regional trail WaddenWandelen across the German Wadden Island of Borkum. The island can be reached from both the Netherlands and Germany (see "Getting There" for more information). The trail starts at Borkum's historic train station and begins with a lap through the historic village center. Past the lighthouse, the route leads to the promenade along the beach. The promenade leads into the dunes. These are special wet dune areas with many rare plants. The route leads to Ostland and across the beach.
The regional trail WaddenWandelen ("Wadden Trail") is an adventure across the Wadden Islands. The 275 kilometer long hiking trail visits all Wadden Islands. Each island has 2 to 4 segments.
