This route begins in the tranquil Braunlager district of Königskrug and leads via the New Goethe Trail to the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains. The hike ends in Schierke. The ascent leads over beautiful forest paths, over the third highest mountain in Lower Saxony, through mystical moorland and along the "Warme Bode" river. After the fantastic panoramic views from the Brocken, it goes down the Eckerlochstieg to Schierke. Alternatively, the Brockenbahn down into the valley can be used (for a fee). There is a restaurant on the Brocken.
