MTB-Tour: Deister-Runde ab Springe

The entrance to the Walterbachtrail near Nienstedt is not that easy to find. If you come out of the forest in front of the village of Nienstedt, after approx. 150m you will pass a house on the left. After the house it goes downhill a bit and pastures / meadows to the left and right before it goes uphill again into the village. Practically in the depression you keep to the left. You can see lattice gates to the left and right, which belong to pastures and to the right to a fish pond (you cannot see the ponds). Orientate yourself to the left gate and walk straight ahead along the fence. At the point where you could think that the fences are connected, there is the entrance to an approx. 80cm wide path, which you would not expect because it is quite overgrown with nettles and other plants (at least in the summer months). After about 50m the path ends and you are on the trail. At Feggendorf there is a trail above the houses (just drive straight ahead from the forest path into the trail). After a while, this trail leads right into the forest and ends after crossing a wooden bridge. Do not use the dirt road at the edge of the forest, which ends in a meadow. If you get lost, you can come back on the trail from a high seat on the meadow through the bushes in front of the bridge. This trail ends on a gravel forest path and after a while leads out of the forest in a left curve. Half to the left of this curve, another trail leads through the forest in the direction of the air raid warning office (right up to the gate). There are some overturned trees on this trail, the treetops directly on the trail, so you have to climb and carry. At one point a stream “meanders”, you can't really judge how “solid” the ground is. You can stop halfway in the Teufelsbrücke forest restaurant, which you pass by.
