Relaxed loop on the Deister, Lower Saxony.
This is a beautiful and leisurely loop along the Deister, the mountain range not far from Hanover. Although the first two and a half kilometres are uphill, the loop should also be manageable for slightly older children. If travelling by bus or train, there is a short access route from Egestorf (Deister) station.
There are also footprints of the devil to be seen along the way! According to legend, miners here in the coalfield are said to have chased the devil away with their pickaxes. The devil then jumped "over the Deister" and his footprints can still be seen today. To see for yourself, there is only one thing to do: set off.
