Finow Canal Paddle Route: Marienwerder - Finowfurt

On the Finow Canal from Marienwerder to Finowfurt Marienwerder (Yachthaven) - Grafenbrück lock - Schöpfurth lock - Finowfurt There is hardly any traffic on this section of the Finow Canal. There is no significant current. Both locks are manned from May 1 to September 30 between 9:00 and 17:00. This water hiking tour takes you along part of the Finow Canal. The canal dates back to the beginning of the 18th century, when the desire for a waterway between Berlin and Stettin, which was acquired by the Prussians at the time, arose. After its completion in 1746, the barges mainly transported timber and firewood from Pomerania to Berlin via the Oder, the new Finow Canal and the Havel. The canal has long since lost its importance as a transport route and is waiting to be discovered by leisure captains. This means that you are alone for long stretches of the tour and can enjoy nature undisturbed and observe the water birds on the banks in peace. Both locks are manned during the season. There are rest stops in Marienwerder and Finowfurt.
