Demanding ridge tour from Oberstdorf, Bavaria.
This hike leads from Oberstdorf up to the Schattenberg and from there follows the rocky, sometimes razor-sharp grassy ridge overgrown with dense mountain pines via Seeköpfle and Hüttenkopf to the Zeigersattel. This alpine ridge hike is probably one of the most beautiful, but also most challenging descents in the Allgäu Alps and leads down into the Oytal valley. The entire route offers magnificent views of the Oberstdorf mountains, the Illertal valley and the shimmering green Seealpsee lake. With a bit of luck, chamois, marmots or golden eagles will cross your path.
The tour is very little used and is not recommended for inexperienced mountaineers. The trail is not marked. The tour requires absolute surefootedness and a head for heights and should not be undertaken in the rain.
