Maximiliansweg Stage 7: Füssen - Tegelberghaus

This route is stage 7 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning in Füssen and ending at the Tegelberg Cable Car mountain station. The path leaves the medieval town of Füssen and passes the Lechfall waterfall before climbing the Kalvarienberg for expansive views of the Allgäu foothills. It winds past the Schwansee and Alpsee lakes to Hohenschwangau Castle, then ascends past Neuschwanstein Castle and across the Marienbrücke bridge into the Ammergebirge Nature Reserve to reach the Tegelberghaus. Overnight stays are accommodated at the Tegelberghaus alpine lodge or in guesthouses in Füssen and Schwangau; wild camping is strictly prohibited in the nature reserve. Hikers must pack a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural mountain streams between stations.
