Varied hike from Volkach-Astheim, Bavaria.
This great hike on the Volkacher Mainschleife. begins at the Volkach-Astheim train station. At first it goes through quince groves a little off the Main. Then the jungle path begins, which leads through the enchanted forest, but always offers direct access to the banks of the Main. Some even have a sandy beach. Shortly before Kaltenhausen, turn left up towards Vogelsburg. At the stop of the museum train you have another nice view to the north before you cross the state road and from now on you go through the wine-growing area on the southern slope and you can enjoy the view in the other direction.
This is an all-round great circular route with lots of nature, wonderful views and exciting information about quince cultivation near Astheim. The trail is nicely shaded on the first side and a bit warm by the vineyards.
