Short, popular tour in the Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg
The Lothar Trail is an exciting adventure trail that was created after the hurricane "Lothar" that raged at Christmas 1999 and was named after him. The storm had brought down large areas of forest here and left a trail of devastation. Since the opening in 2003, the revival of the forest can be observed on the almost 900 meter long adventure trail. Nature heals itself through its urge for life. Small plants and mushrooms grow on the destroyed trees and soon new trees shoot up. The path leads over footbridges, stairs and ladders. There is a viewing platform that offers a wonderful panorama over the ridges of the northern Black Forest.
The trail is free, but donations are welcome. Arrival by bus is possible. The bus stop is right at the entrance. There are also plenty of parking spaces available. There are regular tours by rangers of the national park.
Highlights of the path:
- Unique nature experience
- Development of flora and fauna
- Exciting view from the viewing platform
