The 1000-meter trail offers great views and a more relaxed type of hike. As the name suggests, this hiking trail leads quite consistently along the 1000 m contour line and offers wonderful views over high pastures with wildflowers and their own flora. In good weather, the magnificent views across the Black Forest mountain ranges extend as far as the Rhine plain.
The path is accessible and usually has a gradient of three to seven percent in the direction of the Ruhestein. The wooden ramp at the first viewing platform has a 12 percent incline. From the vantage point with a view of the Karlsruher Grat, it is advisable for people with wheelchairs to turn around, as the path leads down quite steeply at the end and crosses a road that is difficult to see.
The starting point is the Steinmäuerle car park near the Black Forest High Road. On the way there is no possibility to stop for refreshments.
