Baiersbronner Himmelsweg: 2-Lake Tour

• Partial Closure Sankenbach Waterfall: Since July 18, 2026, parts of the bridges at the Sankenbach Waterfall have been damaged due to a landslide. The trail leading up from the Sankenbach Waterfall to the Wasserfallhütte is therefore impassable and closed until further notice. A detour is signposted. The tour usually starts at the Sankenbach parking lot or the chairlift parking lot in Baiersbronn. The Sankenbach waterfalls are a special experience, where visitors can open the sluice manually to let the dammed water cascade down. In the dense fir and spruce forests, you can often spot alpine newts in the waters and, with a bit of luck, the rare capercaillie. The cirque lakes themselves are remnants of the last ice age and are lined with mossy ferns and blueberry bushes. The Ellbachseeblick viewing platform offers a sweeping view over the dark coniferous forests far into the valley.
