This sporty mountain bike tour leads through the steep Black Forest valleys of the Lierbach Valley up to one of the most magical places in the region. The tour starts in the climatic health resort of Oppenau and opens up the mountain ranges around the Allerheiligen monastery ruins. The route is a challenging mix of gravel forest roads, a few climbs on forest trails, and smooth descents. A central highlight is the ensemble of the early Gothic monastery ruins made of red sandstone and the nearby Allerheiligen waterfalls, which plunge spectacularly into the valley over seven cascades. The dense fir forests of the national park are an excellent place to observe nutcrackers, peregrine falcons, and, with a little luck, the tracks of lynxes.
