Best trails near Friedensberg

On this wonderful walk from Sellin you can enjoy the forest, lake and sea air. The Black Lake is a nutrient-poor boiler lake and bordered by silting bogs. Cranberries, rosemary heather and cotton grass grow there. The lake can be reached by hikers via the high bank hiking trail between Sellin and Binz, and a wooden walkway leads directly to the water. The entire lake, its moors and a 100 meter wide strip of the surrounding forest are part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.

The Hochuferwanderweg cannot be missed when visiting Rügen. Again and again there are wonderful views of the coast. After a detour to the Black Lake, it goes on and a little further into the beech forest and to the beautiful Granitz hunting lodge, from whose observation tower you can see the whole island on a clear day.

The Megamarsch is a recurring event and, in this format, covers a 50-kilometer route. The course leads through selected sections of the diverse coastline and forested inland areas of Germany’s largest island. The route layout is shaped by stretches along the chalk cliffs near Sellin as well as sandy coastal paths in the Mönchgut peninsula region.
