Best trails in Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park
Doi Pha Hom Pok national park is home to one of the highest mountains in Thailand, Doi Pha Hom Pok. This mountain stands at an impressive 2,285 meters above sea level, making it the second highest mountain in Thailand after Doi Inthanon. The summit of the mountain features a granite plain surrounded by clouds and is known for its consistently cold temperatures throughout the year. The park is rich in plant and animal life, with a particular abundance of orchids and birds. The orchids found in this area are rare and difficult to find elsewhere, while the mountain is home to a variety of bird species, including migratory birds that visit during the winter season. Some examples of birds you can find around the mountain include the Purple Cochoa, Brown-breasted Bulbul, Red-throated Thrush, Grey-winged Blackbird, and Chestnut Thrush. In addition to birds, the park is also home to a diverse range of butterflies, including the Kaiser I Hind, Teinopalpus imperatrix (which can only be found in this area), Blue Peacock, and Brown Gorgon.
