Welcome to the land of a thousand lakes. The Müritz National Park is located in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District and Feldberg Lake District, where forests, lakes and moors form a breathtaking backdrop. Of this, 72% of the park is covered by forests and 13% by lakes. The Weichselian Ice Age was particularly formative for this region. You can still find boulders, tongue basins and gullies as well as dead ice holes everywhere, and the Müritz National Park has been the largest terrestrial national park in Germany since 1990.
