Varied long-distance hiking trail in Westhavelland, Brandenburg In the middle of the Westhavelland nature park is the Beetzsee, which invites you to go on an extended day hike when the weather is nice. There are refreshment stops along the way. North of Brandenburg an der Havel, the route leads through forests and meadows, past the Hasselberg and again and again along the lakeshore with its lush flora and fauna.

To the west of Berlin, within the Havel Arch, is the Havelländisches Luch lowlands. This area was drained between 1718 and 1724 under Friedrich Wilhelm I and converted into meadow and farmland. Storks, cranes, herons and great bustards can be observed excellently here. Especially at the time of migration, when the birds fly south, thousands pass through the area.
