Best views trails in Spessart Nature Park
Founded in 1960, the Spessart Nature Park covers 1710 km² and comprises one of the largest forest areas in Germany. At the border with Hesse, it merges into the Hessian Spessart Nature Park. The nature park encompasses a large part of the Sandstein-Spessart and Vorspessart natural areas. The Main river in particular shapes the landscape in the nature park. In the Hochspessart there is an extensive network of deeply incised valleys in which small streams flow. The nature park provides a habitat for many unique animals and plants, such as the water buffalo, lynx, bats, river pearl mussel and chess flower.
