This gem in the Gawler Ranges national park in South Australia explores the magnificent Organ Pipes, ancient orange-red rock formations formed over some 1500 million years!
A 4WD is recommended to access the trailhead of this route, and many of the other routes in the Gawler Ranges, especially after wet weather. There's not much shade available in the area so ensure you bring the usual suspects such as plenty of water and sun protection along with you whilst exploring.

The first European explorer to pass through this area was Stephen Hack in
1857. Hack led an expedition in search of good grazing lands. He was guided on his journey by local Aboriginal men who led him to waterholes throughout the Gawler Ranges. It was at Yellow-footed Rock wallaby Falls that a remnant population of the Yellow-footed Rock:wallaby was re-discovered in the 1990's.

Mattera Campground Track is a great walk-in Gawler Rangers, National Park. The park is bursting with wildlife and protects endangered and unusual flora and animals, such as the crimson mallee and the yellow-footed rock wallaby.
