Best forest trails in Südharz

Accessible by train / bus

This route starts in Stolberg, a village in the middle of the forest. The path leads north via the Güntersberger Stadtweg. Finally he reaches the edge of Strassberg. There the path turns and leads in a southerly direction back to the starting point. There are a few ponds along the way, but most of the hike is heavily forested.

This route begins in the village of Schwenda, which is in western Saxony-Anhalt. The route heads north into the forest and onto the Großer Auerberg, which is about 580 meters high. On the summit is the Josephskreuz and a place to stop for refreshments. The Josephskreuz is an observation tower from which one can overlook the surroundings.
