The viaduct trail starts in Altenbeken and can be reached by train or tram from Paderborn every half hour. It begins in the center of Altenbeken at the original exhibited steam locomotive from 1941. The trail surrounds the place on hiking trails and offers as a special highlight the Great Viaduct, the largest limestone bridge in Europe. His little brother "Little Viaduct" is hiked and you go through a mysterious 100m long tunnel. The Mariengrotte in Buke and the adventure playground "Driburger Grund" with barbecue hut and the Max and Moritz springs are further adventure stations on the Viadukt hiking trail. At Driburger Grund 2 geocaches can be lifted. In between, one can put on the Eggegebirgsverein Altenbeken set up sun loungers and let nature work on it. Due to the many cozy rest areas is enough time to calculate. The trail can be shortened to 18 km or you can walk the trail V3 (about 13km) which combines many highlights. For overnight stays the hostel Paderborn is available. The trail is marked with the "Viadukt Wanderweg" sign.Show more

The cabin is a massive building with gas heating, electric. Electricity, running water, toilet and shower. Overnight stays are also possible with sleeping bags and air mattresses in the hut. Near "Thick break" in Erpentrup, you have a great view of the rose hip country and the Eggegebirgskamm. Through a grove we reach the Emmer and go comfortably through Erpentrup. The path leads us to historic milk churns, an old manor / ehm. Glashütte and past a motor museum ( A museum tour is possible from group strength with advance notification. Passing the memorial of the fallen soldiers, we reach the Bodostein. The stone was erected at Graf Bodo von Oeynhausen, who died of an incurable brain disease in 1910, at Forstweg in the Eggegebirge near Langeland. At this point Count Bodo von Oeynhausen is said to have killed a capital deer of fourteen. The huge stones came from the Velmerstot and were brought here by Driburger carters with cars and six horses. Continue up through the beautiful forest to the Black Cross. According to legend, during the Thirty Years' War, a charcoal burner was plundered by a group of marauders, impaled on logs in a cruciform shape and placed in a smoldering kiln, where the army was charred the next day as the "Black Cross." Since this crime, the forest district is called the "Black Cross ". Here you can finally consume our brought provisions. On the hill you continue to Rehberghütte, where a telegraph station was built in the past. Then you walk comfortably through the headwaters at the Aaquelle and come across the popular Emmerquelle. The Emmer is a tributary of the Weser, rises at this source and flows after 62 km in Emmerthal near Hameln in the Weser. Immediately afterwards our hike through the rose hip country ends at the EGV hut.
