Winterstein Rock in Kleinen Zschand

Panoramic hike to the Winterstein, Saxony. This moderately difficult hike leads to the Winterstein rock massif in the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The ascent is quite adventurous and requires a good level of fitness. The start and end point is in the Kirnitzschtal valley at the Lichtenhain waterfall car park, which is subject to a charge. The route leads between steep, green overgrown walls into the Großer Zschand. At first, the route climbs quite steeply up to the impressive Kuhstall rock gate. From there, you take the Fremdenweg trail to the next highlight of the tour - the free-standing massif of the Winterstein. The actual ascent to the summit plateau is adventurous - a head for heights and surefootedness are essential! However, climbing a long, free-standing ladder and other exposed passages is a special experience. The magnificent view in particular rewards the climb. The ladder also takes you back again until you reach the Kuhstall on the way back via the Haussteig and the popular Kuhstallstraße to the starting point.
