Just a few years ago, the entire staircase was re-secured, so there is now a sturdy steel cable running almost the entire length. The Häntzschelstiege is therefore ideal for beginners, but should not be underestimated. The highlight of the tour is the view from the Affensteine, offering a superb vista of the Falkenstein. The descent takes you through the Wilde Hölle. The tour starts at the Nasser Grund car park (subject to a charge), which is also accessible by bus and the Kirnitzschtalbahn. Please note: The car park fills up quickly, especially at weekends and on public holidays, so it is always advisable to travel by public transport. You must not leave the paths within the National Park. The Häntzschelstiege can only be used for ascending. It can get very busy here, especially at weekends! Sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential.
