Lilienstein summit circular trail

10.8kmLength
424mElevation gain
3.5–4hrEstimated time
Circular
On this circular walk, you’ll climb the Lilienstein, probably the most famous table mountain in Saxon Switzerland and the national park’s landmark. The River Elbe winds picturesquely around it, and from the top there are various stunning views. There is also a mountain restaurant at the summit. The return journey through the forest follows partly the Sellnitzgrundweg and partly the Lottersteig. The walk starts at Rathmannsdorf railway station; motorists can use the car parks in Bad Schandau. Please note: This route is not particularly suitable for dogs, as the northern descent features metal mesh staircases and iron ladders, and the southern ascent also has metal mesh staircases. These cannot be bypassed. Small dogs may be carried if necessary, but in that case it is best to take the southern ascent instead. As soon as you leave the village, you are within the National Park: you must not stray from the paths here, and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
