This wonderful hiking trail runs along the beautiful course of the Ruhr river, the Hardenstein nature reserve and the Muttental urban forest, offering idyllic river views as well as shady forest paths.
The tour through the Muttental combines history, culture and enjoyment of nature. It partly follows the "Mining hiking trail in the Muttental". This trail features 30 information boards depicting the origins of mining in the Muttental valley.
Around half of the tour is on sandy forest paths and asphalted side roads. Some steep inclines require a certain level of fitness. Good footwear is recommended in bad weather.
The route is easily accessible by train/bus.
