Rund um die Vinetastadt Barth

Let's go on a voyage of discovery around the historic Bodden town of Barth. There is a round trip to explore in the footsteps of Vineta, the Atlantis of the North, and a tour with fantastic impressions of nature. The round trip starts at the harbour of the 750-year-old town. Since 1999, it has been known as the "Vineta town" because, according to legend, the "Atlantis of the North" is believed to be located here in the Barther Bodden. Coming from the harbour, the route initially follows the cycle path signs in the direction of Stralsund. It then turns left towards "Trebbin" and leads to Glöwitz, along the Bodden. Turning right at the crossroads, the route reaches the tarmac path after 500 metres, which leads eastwards to the village of Dabitz. The beautiful panoramic view from the Uetzberg to the left is particularly worth mentioning here. The harbour in Dabitz also invites you to take a short break. The road in a westerly direction leads through Dabitz, Küstrow and Rubitz. Following this road, you reach Kenz, the former place of pilgrimage. Its brick church is striking and impresses with its magnificent interior. In front of the church is a well house, which was built according to the historical model for the reusable healing spring. A little further westwards, the route reaches the busy L21. Turn left and continue along the tarmac cycle path, following the signs for Frauendorf after 400 metres. After the village, you reach Divitz. Here it is worth making a detour to the once important moated castle of the north. Even though the estate of Divitz Castle is awaiting thorough renovation, its park is a popular excursion destination. The route continues to the left along the paved path that leads to the bridge over the Barthe river. Alternatively, you can also take the road bridge south of Frauendorf. The route leads northwards along a paved track on the west bank of the Barthe to the Divitz bridge, which leads onto the cycle path towards Planitz. The next destination on the route is the Fuchsberg, from where there is a beautiful view of the Barther Strom to the west. A pleasant path through the dune landscape leads to the north-eastern tip to another viewing platform, from where you can see the bird sanctuary islands in the Bodden and Barth's old town. A small path along the shore leads back to the harbour. A tour of the historic centre of the Vineta town of Barth is highly recommended.
