The small car park on the main road in Wieck a. Darß is the starting point for this hike. The Wiecker Postweg takes you into the Darßwald forest. Take the first turn-off to the right, after the national park boundary, to reach the H-frame. Follow this in a westerly direction until you reach the Großer Stern. This is where the footpath on the Alter Mecklenburger Weg begins. It leads past the Große Buchhorster Maase. If you are quiet and alert, you may be lucky enough to spot red deer or wild boar here. To return to the starting point, follow the g-frame southwards to Peters Kreuz and then return eastwards along the familiar path via the H-frame. Please note: The Alter Mecklenburger Weg footpath and the area around the Große Buchhorster Maase are closed during the red deer rutting season in September/October.
